Here's How To Unlock Your Smartphone When You Forget Your Password
Smartphones have started to become a necessity in today's digitalization era. Not without reason, the use of smartphones can be very helpful in our daily lives in the digitalization era, whether it's to store files, interact or even to read the news. Of course, each individual smartphone always has important data that is not willing to be accessed by others, whether it is deleted or duplicated. In order to maintain privacy from ignorant hands smartphones have passwords, which can be a double-edged sword for each individual. The good thing is that with a password our smartphone will not be easily accessed by others, while the bad thing is when we don't remember the password so we can't open our own smartphone. Then how to open a smartphone if we forget the password?
Forgetting the password is quite fatal, because it means we cannot open our smartphone. So when we forget our smartphone password, do we have to panic? Of course not because there are 3 ways we can try to open it. The methods are as follows:
1.Open with Smart Lock
Smart Lock is an Android feature that can allow users to open the device by ignoring the applied password. However, this feature can only be used if you previously activated the feature. So in other words this feature can be used just in case when you forget the smartphone password.
To activate the Smart Lock feature on android in general is as follows
- Go to Settings
- Security and location
- Smart Lock
To use the feature, you must first enter your pin or password. Once this feature is active, the smartphone can be unlocked by simply sliding the padlock icon in the first 4 hours. So there is no need to enter a password to unlock it.
Now for this Smart Lock feature to work, it must detect the following things:
- Body detection: The smartphone will detect when you are carrying it and are moving. But when you are stationary, it means that in the next 4 hours, the device can be unlocked by simply sliding the padlock lock icon. This is the case with other detection options.
- Trusted places: You can specify a location that you think is safe enough to activate the Smart Lock feature, such as home. That way, when you are away from home, this feature will not work.
- Trusted devices: Makes your device unlocked when connected to a related bluetooth device, such as a smartwatch.
- Trusted face: Uses facial recognition to unlock the smartphone.
Voice matching: Unlocks the smartphone when you hear a trusted voice. - Fingerprint: Unlocks your smartphone with a fingerprint registered to the device.
If you have set up one or more of these options before you forget your password, you can use them to log back into your phone.
2.Find My Device
If the first way cannot be done, the second way is to use find my device from Google. But this way you can use when your smartphone is Samsung brand only. That way you can open the smartphone via computer, the method is as follows:
- Log in to the Google account linked to the cellphone on the computer
- Type findmymobile.samsung.com in the search engine
- Open the "Unlock my device" option, then follow the instructions.
3.Factory Reset
If both of these methods fail to unlock then the last way you can use is to do an android factory reset. But for this last method, the consequence is that all data on our smartphone will be lost, unless the data has been backed up on a google account.
One of the easiest factory reset ways is with the Find My Device feature from Google. The method is as follows:
- Sign in to your Google account on your computer
- Make sure the account is linked to the cellphone
- Go to https://www.google.com/android/find Click "Erase Device" or "Delete Device".
- That way the smartphone will return to factory settings.
Now that's how to unlock a smartphone when you forget the password. Indeed, even though there is already a way does not mean that the password does not have to be remembered, because there is also no guarantee to be able to use a method that does not delete the data on the smartphone. A few tips for passwords use ones that are easy for you to remember whether it's like when you were born or if you want to use a password that is difficult and not easily guessed by others, you can write it down on a note so you don't forget it easily.
